Residencies:

1. Purpose & Objectives

Creative Development: The residency provides artists the opportunity to develop new ideas, refine techniques, and produce exhibition-ready work with an emphasis on market-ready volume for gallery presentation and sales.

Market Acceleration: CAC supports artists in increasing the pace and consistency of their output, preparing them for broader exposure and sales opportunities.

Cultural Exchange: Artists benefit from interactions with peers, arts professionals, and audiences, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Community Engagement: Artists contribute to the local arts ecosystem through workshops, exhibitions, and public dialogues.

Residency Options & Structure

Option A: 30-Day Studio Comprehensive

Includes dedicated studio space to work.

$500 supply allowance provided upon acceptance.

Artists must fully participate in designated public studio visits, talks, exhibitions, and receive full sales support for their work.

A minimum of five substantial pieces must be created, with no maximum as long as quality is maintained.

CAC will continue to showcase up to five pieces for sale in the gallery for up to 90 days after residency completion.

Open to all visual artists; due to fire safety and structural constraints, certain processes may not be supported. Applicants must include material and tool requirements in their application.

Option B: 60-Day Studio Comprehensive

Includes dedicated studio space to work.

$1,200 supply allowance provided upon acceptance.

Artists must fully participate in designated public studio visits, talks, exhibitions, and receive full sales support for their work.

A minimum of five substantial pieces must be created, with no maximum as long as quality is maintained.

CAC will continue to showcase up to five pieces for sale in the gallery for up to 180 days after residency completion.

Open to all visual artists; due to fire safety and structural constraints, certain processes may not be supported. Applicants must include material and tool requirements in their application.

Option C: 30-Day Art-To-Market Visiting Artist

30-day opportunity to showcase and market an approved selection of artworks in the CAC residency gallery and shop.

No studio space provided.

Focuses on amplifying the artist’s work through direct marketing, in-store display, and direct-to-consumer sales.

Artist Selection Criteria

Artists applying for the residency will be evaluated based on:

Artistic Merit:
Demonstrated excellence in technique, vision, and execution.

Originality:
A unique and compelling artistic voice that contributes to contemporary art discourse.

Project Feasibility:
The artist’s ability to complete their proposed work within the residency’s timeframe and available resources.

Alignment with Residency Mission:
The extent to which the artist’s work aligns with CAC’s goals of market acceleration, cultural engagement, and artistic innovation.

Potential for Artistic Growth:
The residency’s ability to foster development in the artist’s practice and career trajectory.

Selection Process

1. Application Submission: Complete the electronic form and submit it to the Executive Director.

2. Initial Review: The Executive Director reviews applications for completeness.

3. Review Board Evaluation: Board members have five business days to evaluate and submit approval forms.

4. Decision Notification: Acceptance or deferral letters are sent within ten days.

5. Acceptance Confirmation: Artists must accept within 48 hours and propose interview dates.

6. Interview & Agreement: A formal meeting concludes with a signed letter of intent outlining residency conditions.
